Assistant Accountant

Overview of role

Gravity Global is the world’s most awarded, B2B communications agency. Headquartered in London and with offices across the UK we are growing fast and are looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to support our friendly team based in Oxford.

As an Assistant Accountant you will be supporting the Head of Finance with a broad range of accounting activities. This is a varied role which will suit somebody who has strong accountancy skills and experience and is looking to progress.

You will report into the Head of Finance for our Oxford office, but will also work closely with the wider finance team at our head office in London and in our other offices in the UK.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Finance in producing the monthly Management Accounts
  • Analyse job costings and prepare timesheet reports to assess the profitability of projects, highlighting areas of concern to the Head of Finance
  • Maintaining purchase and sales ledger
  • Setting up of new clients and suppliers ensuring close attention to detail
  • Liaising and negotiating with third party providers, clients and suppliers
  • Managing the reconciliation of supplier statements
  • Setting up and coordinating the supplier payment run each month
  • Processing expense claims in line with the Company’s internal policies and procedures, and HMRC guidelines
  • Processing credit card invoices, investigating and resolving any errors and inconsistencies
  • Assisting the Head of Finance with transactional processing duties such as posting and raising invoices and credit control
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations on a daily basis, reporting inconsistencies to the Head of Finance
  • Managing the Company’s utility account and mobile phones, reviewing and negotiating renewal rates as and when required
  • Liaising and building relationships with key contacts in each of the Gravity Global businesses
  • Assisting the Head of Finance by preparing financial reports on a weekly or monthly basis
  • Working with the Head of Finance to coach and advise members of the Client Services team on budgeting, profitability and forecasting revenues
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Head of Finance / Chief Financial Officer / Senior Management Team

Experience / skills required

  • AAT / ACCA / CIMA (full or part qualified) or equivalent qualification
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within an agency environment
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills are essential
  • Highly organised and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and under pressure
  • Motivated and keen to progress
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate well with key stakeholders

Remuneration / Hours

  • Competitive salary plus benefits
  • Annual holiday entitlement of 25 days
  • Normal working hours from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday, though a degree of flexibility will be required
